Abstract

W artykule przedstawiono sylwetkę Fabiana Birkowskiego, kapelana obozowego, który towarzyszył żołnierzom Władysława IV w wyprawach moskiewskich. Autorka tekstu w oparciu o kazania duchownego przybliża rolę, jaką pełnili w społeczności żołnierskiej kaznodzieje oraz zwraca uwagę na główne tematy obecne w tekstach Birkowskiego, m. in. rycerski charakter działalności misyjnej, ale i podwójny (ziemski i boski) wymiar służby rycerskiej. Przywołuje również teksty dotyczące samego dominikanina służące pośmiertnemu wychwalaniu jego osoby.
