Helsesykepleieres erfaring med helsetilbudet til barn med fedme – læringspunkter etter covid-19-pandemien

Abstract

Hensikten med studien er å gi kunnskap om hvordan barn med fedme ble fulgt opp i skolehelsetjenesten under covid-19-pandemien som et bidrag i vurderingen av kommuners evne til å tilpasse seg utfordringer og endringer for å opprettholde høy kvalitet på omsorgen for disse barna. Vi analyserte syv intervju med helsesykepleiere med kvalitativ innholdsanalyse. Det kom frem to hovedtema: 1) Det tyngende ansvaret med å gi tilbud til barna med fedme under covid-19 pandemien, og 2) ansvaret for kvalitet i tilbudet må hvile på kommunen. Helsesykepleiere erfarte at barn med fedme var ekstra sårbare og risikoutsatte under pandemien. Gapet mellom behov for hjelp og mulighet til å hjelpe økte. Pandemiarbeid tok ressurser fra skolehelsetjenesten, og oppfølging av barn med fedme ble nedprioritert. Under pandemier bør sårbare barn med helseutfordringer prioriteres. Skolehelsetjenesten kan bidra til å følge opp og forebygge langvarige og alvorlige helsekonsekvenser for disse barna. Da må kommunens ledelse tilrettelegge med nødvendige faglige ressurser, strukturer for tverrfaglig samarbeid, et støttende arbeidsmiljø, dialog og veiledning og en plan for prioriteringer.
