Un nuevo humedal artificial en la costa central de Perú: primera caracterización de su avifauna

Abstract

Los humedales artificiales se consideran una alternativa al tratamiento de aguas servidas y representan una oportunidad de hábitat para especies residentes y migratorias ante el deterioro de los humedales naturales. En ese contexto, se presentan aquí los primeros resultados de la caracterización de la avifauna del Humedal Artificial de Chilca (HAC) en la costa de Lima. Se hicieron monitoreos quincenales durante diciembre del 2020 y marzo del 2022 y se registraron 56 especies de aves entre residentes (32), migratorias (23) y una divagante para el Perú (1). Las familias con mayor número de especies fueron Scolopacidae (28,57 %), Laridae (12,5 %), Charadriidae (8,93 %) y Ardeidae (8,93 %), que en su conjunto agrupan a más de la mitad de las especies reportadas. La expansión de los cuerpos de agua, así como de la vegetación acuática y circundante, ha permitido el incremento del registro de especies a lo largo del tiempo. Se reportó, además, el asentamiento de una agrupación de Phoenicopterus chilensis, la reproducción de Himantopus mexicanus, Anas bahamensis, Charadrius alexandrinus y C. vociferus y la presencia de la especie endémica Geositta peruviana y de Larus argentatus, divagante del hemisferio norte. Se puede considerar que el HAC constituye una nueva oferta de hábitat para especies residentes y migratorias en el sistema de humedales de la costa central, así como un espacio con alto potencial ecoturístico. Los perros ferales, los desechos y el acceso de vehículos motorizados constituyen una amenaza mayor para la avifauna presente.
