Abstract

Este informe tiene como principal propósito indagar la actividad de los gobiernos locales en apoyo a la competitividad en los países de América Latina y el Caribe e identificar las posibles intervenciones en las que los gobiernos locales agregan valor al proceso de competitividad. Dado el estadio inicial en el que se encuentra la investigación sobre el papel que pueden cumplir los gobiernos locales de la región en el campo de la competitividad, se decidió realizar cinco estudios de casos, en los cuales se reflejan desarrollos diferentes con características que les son propias, conforme los productos y cadenas de valor involucradas y los sitios, países y culturas en los que se han desarrollado. Los casos examinados incluyen los clusters vitivinícola de Argentina, del salmón en Chile, del camarón en Ecuador, informático en Brasil y turístico en Jamaica.
