Tratamiento de aguas residuales en México

Abstract

En este documento, se presenta una visión global de la situación actual en materia de tratamiento de aguas residuales a nivel nacional. Se presentan las líneas de acción que el Gobierno de México se planteó en la materia, así como el marco normativo y jurídico vigente a fin de contribuir al logro de las metas planteadas. Además se muestran las coberturas de tratamiento que se presentan a finales de 2012, su evolución histórica, las proyecciones para los próximos años y las acciones e incentivos que el Gobierno ha implementado para el reúso de las aguas tratadas. Como situación particular, se presenta el caso del Valle de México, en donde grandes obras de infraestructura se desarrollan para tratar de disminuir la contaminación de los cuerpos de agua y la presión hídrica actual. Adicional a lo anterior, se exponen las diversas fuentes de financiamiento disponibles para el desarrollo técnico del subsector, haciendo énfasis en lo invertido directamente en saneamiento. Finalmente se presenta la perspectiva hacia el año 2030, planteando diversas acciones que resultan necesarias a fin de elegir una situación deseable en el tratamiento de aguas residuales y los retos que enfrenta la administración para el sexenio 2012-2018.
