Hechos estilizados de la movilidad urbana en América Latina y el Caribe

Abstract

Este documento complementa los hallazgos de Rivas et al. (2019) acerca de “Hechos estilizados de transporte urbano en América Latina y el Caribe”, con especial atención a la movilidad privada. En primer lugar, analiza la relación entre el proceso de urbanización y la planificación del transporte. Luego, muestra la dotación de infraestructura vial y la competitividad de los modos de transporte, factores que aumentan la atractividad del automóvil como modo de movilización. El documento finaliza con la estimación de las externalidades producidas por la movilidad actual de la región y un resumen de las posibles acciones políticas para incentivar modos de transporte más sostenibles desde el punto de vista socioambiental, con el objetivo de mejorar la calidad de vida de los habitantes en las ciudades de ALC.
