El efecto de la educación en las actitudes de género: Evidencia experimental en educación secundaria en El Salvador

Abstract

La violencia de género es una de las problemáticas sociales más comunes a nivel global e impacta de forma adversa el desarrollo de los países y la vida de las personas. La política de prevención más común es la educación. Este trabajo estudia el efecto de un programa de educación comunitaria para jóvenes entre 12 y 18 años en El Salvador. Un diseño experimental permitió estimar que el programa mejoró los conocimientos de género. Para las mujeres, el programa promovió conversaciones y cambios en actitudes hacia unas más favorables a la igualdad entre hombres y mujeres. También, encontramos cambios en los reportes sobre comportamientos sexuales para ambos sexos. Este estudio provee evidencia para identificar políticas efectivas para contribuir a lograr una generación de estudiantes hombres y mujeres libres de violencia de género.
