Abstract

<p>Esbozo de la situación social, económica y política de Colima a fines del siglo XVIII y de la labor del alcalde mayor Perez Ponce de León. Subraya el estado de rezago y la oposición a los embates contra su precaria autonomía económica (basada en la producción de sal y coco principalmente) de las jurisdicciones michoacanas y neo gallega. Destaca los problemas políticos internos que impidieron su incorporación plena a la economía novohispana, debidos a los intereses particulares de los poderosos de la región.</p>
