La vorágine: paramilitarismo antes del paramilitarismo

Abstract

Este artículo considera el orden de la acumulación en La vorágine y entiende el entramado de individuos armados que lo sostiene como paramilitares, cuestionando así la narrativa del paramilitarismo como fenómeno reciente. Propone que los paramilitares de principios del siglo XX lucharon una guerra perpetua contra un enemigo absoluto, y que La vorágine desvela el horror paramilitar sobre el que el Estado nación moderno colombiano se establece. Sostiene que, en su denuncia de los crímenes del Putumayo, la novela llama al Estado a luchar una guerra similar a la paramilitar: por la expropiación y la explotación de la tierra.
