Los estudios antroponimicos son, ciertamente, objeto de atencion minoritaria en la investigacion lexicologica, quedando este terreno -de posibilidades practicamente inagotables, lo mismo en el orden sincronico que en el diacronicoun tanto abandonado al quehacer de los historiadores. Ello no quiere decir, en absoluto, que la participacion del historiador en las inquietudes cientificas por este campo del lexico haya resultado negativa; sin exageracion alguna puede, en lineas generales, afirmarse lo contrario. Solo queremos resaltar asi la meritoria labor del restringido numero de linguistas especialistas en antroponimia, que con su incansable entusiasmo intentan llenar este vacio en los conocimientos lexicologicos 1•
