Abstract

En este quinto tomo se analizan las formas de construcción visual de la afrodescendencia y sus metodologías. Las investigaciones coinciden en señalar que las artes visuales y escénicas han jugado un papel fundamental en la construcción, reproducción y transmisión sistemática de estereotipos racistas y reduccionistas de la población afrodescendiente como personificaciones de anti-valores y vicios de la sociedad. Desde el siglo XVIII, estas construcciones son legitimadas desde la Historia Natural y la Medicina, y posteriormente, a través del proyecto de consolidación del Estado-nación. Conscientes de tal silenciamiento, en este tomo se recogen las propuestas estéticas por parte de artistas visuales, curadores, coreógrafos, bailarines y bailarinas afrodescendientes.
