Abstract

Das Suchen und Finden von Nahrung war einst eine Überlebensfrage. Heute wird das ständig verfügbare Angebot von Essbarem für Patienten mit einer Essanfallstörung zum Verhängnis - besonders in Konfliktsituationen. In der Öffentlichkeit wird viel über Ernährung, Essen und Essstörungen berichtet, Binge Eating ist aber weitgehend unbekannt - bei Laien wie bei Fachleuten. Darum und aufgrund der großen Scham der Betroffenen, über ihr Leiden zu sprechen, bleibt die BED oft unerkannt und unbehandelt. Dieses Buch bietet einen praktischen Einstieg in das Störungsbild. Anhand vieler Fallbeispiele sensibilisiert es Therapeuten dafür, was Betroffene erleben. Da die Essanfälle häufig mit Adipositas (starkem Übergewicht) einhergehen, wird auch diese Störung vergleichend einbezogen. Das Manual gibt eine Behandlungsstruktur vor, ohne festzulegen. Ausschlaggebend ist die jeweils individuelle Situation.
