RINOSSINUSITES EM PEDIATRIA

Abstract

As sinusites e rinites são processos inflamatórios da mucosa sinusal e nasal que, na população infantil, freqüentemente se sobrepõem e dificultam o correto diagnóstico. A prescrição de antibióticos para crianças com infecções virais como tentativa de impedir possíveis complicações bacterianas não tem se mostrado adequada. O tratamento antimicrobiano das rinossinusites, seja aguda ou crônica, geralmente é realizado de maneira empírica, baseado em dados microbiológicos (culturas e sensibilidade a antimicrobianos in vitro, etc.). As principais diferenças entre os tratamentos dizem respeito às doses e tempo de tratamento, mostrando uma grande divergência de idéias quanto à dose e período adequado, principalmente em se tratando de crianças. São necessários mais estudos para a definição destes itens e uma atualização do Consenso Brasileiro.
