Este artículo repasa la evolución y el estado actual de los métodos cualitativos como una disciplina académica en Israel. Tomando los aportes de un estudio llevado a cabo especialmente para este volumen de FQS, el artículo documenta el predominio de cursos cualitativos en las instituciones israelíes de educación superior y otras redes que promueven la investigación cualitativa. Adicionalmente, el artículo presenta los hallazgos de otro estudio desarrollado para este volumen acerca de todos los artículos publicados en la pasada década en la principal revista de ciencias del comportamiento de Israel, "Megamot". Se documentan los métodos usados por los académicos israelíes, así como sus nuevas y emergentes áreas de interés. El artículo demuestra que en Israel, en los últimos años, ha habido un incremento continuado en el interés por la investigación cualitativa. Finalmente, el artículo discute si la experiencia nacional conforma la selección de métodos científico sociales, y llega a la conclusión de que ésta influye en las áreas que se estudian pero no afecta necesariamente a los métodos empleados. This paper surveys the evolution and cur­rent state of the art of qualitative methods as an academic discipline in Israel. By means of a survey carried out especially for this issue of FQS, the paper documents the prevalence of qualitative courses in Israel's institutions of higher learning and other networks which promote qualitative re­search. In addition, the article presents the findings of a separate survey carried out for this issue of all articles published in the past decade in Israel's foremost behavioural science journal "Megamot". It documents the methods used by Israeli scholars, as well as their new and emerging areas of inter­est. The article demonstrates that in recent years there has been a steady increase in interest in qualitative research in Israel. Finally, the paper discusses whether national experience shapes the selection of social scientific methods, and comes to the conclusion that it influences the research area studied but does not necessarily affect the methods used. Dieser Beitrag bietet einen Überblick über die Entwicklung und den jetzigen Zustand der qualitativen Forschung als einer akademischen Disziplin in Israel. Er dokumentiert ihre Bedeutung für die Lehre und ihre Rolle in den höheren Bildungseinrichtungen Israels, indem er die Ergebnisse einer kleinen Umfrage beschreibt und die Netzwerke skizziert, die die qualitative Forschung in Israel befördern. Der Beitrag fasst die Ergebnisse einer Durchsicht aller Artikel der bedeutendsten israelischen Zeitschrift Megamot zusammen. Daneben zeigt er, welche Methoden von israelischen Forschern in welchen Forschungsbereichen eingesetzt werden. Schließlich erörtert er die Frage, ob nationale Erfahrungen die Auswahl sozialwissenschaftlicher Methoden leiten und kommt zum Schluss, dass sich diese Erfahrungen zwar auf die Forschungsbereiche, nicht aber auf die spezifischen Methoden auswirken.
