Abstract

La mejor manifestación de helechos se encontró en esta selva mesófita de Quercus sobre el Cerro Hueytepec. El helecho más grande y el único arborescente (familia Ciateáceas) es Lophosoria quadriplinnata (Gmel.) C. Ch., que tiene las frondas 1 a 2 1/2 m de largo y a veces presenta un tronco hasta de 1 m de alto. Otras pteridófitas grandes en el suelo con las frondas 1 m. o más de largo son: Blechnum falciforme (Liebm.) C. Chr., Dennstaedtia distenta ( Kunze) Moore, Dryopteris ampla ( H & B. ) D. pilosohispida (Hook.) C. Chr., D. rudis (Kunze) C. Chr., Pteridium aguillinum (L.) Kuhn var. caudatum (L). Sadeb., Pteris orizabae M . & G., and Woodwardia spinulosa M . & G.
