Áreas de endemismo de Magnoliophyta en Morelos, México

Abstract

Antecedentes: Las provincias florísticas Cuenca del Balsas (CB) y Faja Volcánica Trans-Mexicana (FVT) coinciden en el estado de Morelos y destacan por su riqueza y endemismo florístico. Documentar la distribución de su flora endémica aportaría elementos para evaluar su sensibilidad a la modificación de su entorno. Preguntas: ¿El análisis de la distribución de especies de Magnoliophyta endémicas de México permite identificar áreas de endemismo en el estado de Morelos? ¿La distribución espacial de estas especies en Morelos posibilita identificar áreas de endemismo a escala fina? Objetivos: Identificar áreas de endemismo a nivel nacional y Morelos utilizando especies de Magnoliophyta endémicas de México y presentes en la CB y la FVT. Especies en estudio: 874 especies de Magnoliophyta endémicas de México. Sitio de estudio: México y Morelos. Métodos: Se analizaron 13,791 registros de 874 especies de Magnoliophyta y utilizando el programa NDM/VNDM se realizó un Análisis de Endemicidad para identificar áreas de endemismo en el país y el estado de Morelos. Resultados: Cuatro áreas de endemismo fueron identificadas en el centro del país, Morelos formó parte de ellas. En Morelos también se encontraron cuatro áreas de endemismo, que concentran 17 % del endemismo empleado en el análisis. Tres áreas se ubicaron dentro de la FVT y otra en la CB. Conclusiones: La flora de Morelos forma parte de una gran área de endemismo en el centro de México. Las áreas de endemismo identificadas en Morelos concentran especies cuya conservación es prioritaria, pues no se registran para las áreas naturales protegidas decretadas.
