</script>Common sense designates the psychologist the most proficient professional to work with sexuality. Rarely , though, we are educating psychologists to work with th e sexual life in non-clinical contexts. This articl e synthesizes a critique of the "sexological" framework, hegemonic throughout the XX century, and argues that the "constructionist " approach, while deconstructing woman's subordination and hetero-normativeness as natural, was validated as an alternativ e paradigm of great relevance for research and professional practice ap proaching the sexual sphere. This theoretical frame work better understood challenges as the Aids epidemic, especially in conte xts of inequality and rights violations; inspired t echnologies for its prevention based on gender analysis and the underst anding of sexual scenarios, scenes, scripts and tra jectories by sexual subjects. Psychologists practice will benefit from r ediscovering sexuality, surpassing approaches based on personal values, rethinking the sexological and psychological approa ches that aim at universalism, at least on the sexu ality domain.
