A 19 pacientes operados de cirugía cardíaca con circulación extracorpórea (CEC) se les realizó un lavado broncoalveolar (LBA) momentos antes (1." LBA) y después (2.° LBA) de la CEC. Comparando los resultados del recuento celular del 1." LBA con el 2.° LBA se ha visto en este último un mayor número de neutrófilos, hecho indicativo de una posible agresión sobre el pulmón mducida por la CEC. Se revisa bibliografía relevante sobre el secuestro de neutrófilos en el pulmón en pacientes sometidos a operaciones cardíacas con CEC.
