Perón: personaje de novela

Abstract

In spite of the trace left by Juan D. Perón in Argentina’s social, political and cultural life, there are not many literary approaches to his figure. “La novela de Perón” (1985), by T. E. Martínez represents a remarkable exception in this panorama. This work tries to get closer to the leader, coming from the empty gaps left by historiography. The style in which it is written borrows from journalistic techniques. Trough the accumulation of testimonies and stories, the plot seeks to reach a more comprehensive image of the old ex-president. Another book concentrated in Perón’s past is "El muchacho peronista" (1992), by Marcelo Figueras. This text is not interested in investigating his historical personality. Instead of that, it prefers to develop the character’s fictional aspects. In both cases, the confrontation between history and fiction refers to the common matrix shared by every story.
