TANGKUL DI DANAU TELUK

Abstract

Jambi merupakan salah satu propinsi di Indonesia. Di propinsi ini yang banyak terdapat genangan air rawa, sungai, dan danau. Salah satunya adalah DanauTeluk yang diairi (keluar dan masuk) dari Sungai Batanghari. Danau ini merupakan danau oxbow (bentuk tapal kuda), terletak di Kecamatan DanauTeluk, Kota Jambi, Propinsi Jambi pada ketinggian 16-23 dpl mempunyai luas 40-60 ha. Jumlah nelayan saat ini mencapai sekitar 300 orang. Jenis alat tangkap yang digunakan cukup beragam meliputi tangkul (lift net), pancing atau bujur (line fishing), jaring (gill net), gerugu atau bubu (tubular trap), kelong, tasok, rombong, jermal (pound net), jala (cash net fishing), dan rawai (drift line). Alat tangkap dominan yang digunakan oleh nelayan adalah tangkul, rawai, gerugu, dan tajur, di mana dalam 1 rumah tangga perikanan nelayan, pada umumnya memiliki lebih dari 1 jenis alat tangkap yang dioperasikan. Dari beberapa jenis alat tangkap tersebut, tangkul merupakan alat tangkap yangdominan dioperasikan oleh nelayan. Hasil penelitian Loka Riset Pemacuan Stok Ikan (2005) menunjukkan bahwa tangkul yang beroperasi di Danau Telukmencapai 69,44% atau 75 rumah tangga perikanan.
