This paper focuses on the creative, explorative, and cognitive potential of ‚language‘ within architectural conception and design. Beyond its everyday use as an instrument of conversation, communication and argumentation of designs, it highlights a hitherto often underestimated quality of language. Case studies highlighting the graphically and medially diverse use of language include currently practicing offices of Barozzi Veiga, Norman Foster, Rem Koolhaas, and De Vylder Vinck Taillieu.
