From the perspective of architectural theory, the article focuses on the various roles, actions and effects of ‚photography‘ in the development of the basic conception of architects, as an analysis and evaluation tool in the design process, as well as its potential for artistic-conceptual interpretation and insights. Using the example of contemporary offices such as David Adajye, Christ & Gantenbein, Christian Kerez, Herzog & de Meuron and Thomas Ruff, the overlapping and interplay of creative architectural and photographic practice are outlined in order to open up new impulses for design and research with the medium of photography.
