Abstract

Damit sind Grenzen ein, wenn nicht gar der prominenteste Untersuchungsgegenstand der Kultursemiotik, also derjenigen Teildisziplin der Wissenschaft von den Zeichen, die kulturelle Prozesse in ihren zeichenhaften Veräußerungen beschreibt. Dementsprechend bezeichnen Gräf/Schmöller die Grenze selbst als eine "semiotische Größe", da sie stets in kulturellen kommunikativen Kontexten verankert ist. Die Kultursemiotik untersucht anhand medial materialisierter Texte, in welcher Weise Kulturen in ihren kommunikativen Akten und zeichenhaften Handlungen Grenzen und Ordnungen konstruieren und rekonstruiert darüber die historischen und diskursiven Kontexte des Denkens und Wissens, in denen jene verortet sind.
