Este artículo tiene como objetivo reconstruir los usos dados a la metáfora de la “retroexcavadora” en el discurso político oposicional al segundo gobierno de Michelle Bachelet en Chile (2014-2018). Junto con exponer la forma en que el sentido originario de esta metáfora fue eficientemente resignificado y connotado como expresión de un proyecto político “destructivo” y “antidemocrático”, este artículo se propone dar cuenta de la relevancia de los dispositivos retóricos como herramientas para la interacción político-discursiva.
