Vytautas Kavolis (1930-1996)

Abstract

1996 m. birželio 26 d. mirė žymus išeivijos mokslininkas, kultūros veikėjas, profesorius Vytautas Kavolis. Svarbiausi jo moksliniai darbai skirti kultūros sociologijai kultūros istorijai ir civilizacijų analizei. Aptariama V. Kavolio kultūrinė ir visuomeninė veikla lietuvių išeivijoje. Jis buvo „Santaros-Šviesos“ federacijos vienas kūrėjų ir vadovas, redagavo žurnalą „Metmenys“. V. Kavolis reguliariai skaitė paskaitas Lietuvos universitetuose, bendradarbiavo kultūrinėje spaudoje, palaikė ryšius su Lietuvos filosofais, apdovanotas Nacionaline kultūros ir meno premija.
