Abstract

Straipsnyje analizuojamos XIX a. pabaigos – XX a. pradžios Lietuvos ateistų pažiūros į viduramžių bažnyčią ir į tą žalą, kurią ji padarė mokslo vystymuisi, kai buvo akcentuojama tikėjimo forma, o ne turinys, kai viešpatavo aklas fanatizmas, į pirmą vietą iškėlęs antgamtinių jėgų garbinimo emocinį aspektą, o žmogaus išgelbėjimui buvo reikalaujama ne žinojimo, bet tikėjimo ir žmogiškasis mąstymas buvo sukaustytas scholastika ir dogmomis. Lietuvos ateistai teisingai nurodė, kad tada, kai religijoje vyrauja ne turinys, o forma, kai bažnyčia savo tikintiesiems diegia antimokslines biblines pažiūras į pasaulį ir gamtos reiškinius, ugdomas formalus ir fanatiškas tikėjimas, sukaustantis protą ir neleidžiantis minčiai laisvai plėtotis. Nagrinėjamo laikotarpio Lietuvos ateistai, dar nesivadovavę dialektiniu ir istoriniu materializmu, nesugebėjo atskleisti tikrųjų šio ideologinio proceso priežasčių, todėl subjektyvistiškai visą kaltę vertė bažnyčios vadovams ir kunigams.
