Extrema direita e educação no Brasil

Abstract

Desde os anos 1990, as razões estruturais dos problemas e fragilidades da educação pública no Brasil vinham sendo ofuscadas pelo discurso da necessidade de adequá-la às demandas da sociedade moderna e competitiva. As políticas públicas tornavam-se, assim, arena de conflito permanente. De um lado, o discurso modernizador, expressão da racionalidade política do neoliberalismo; do outro, a mobilização de grupos identificados com o horizonte do Estado social. A agenda reacionária do governo Jair Bolsonaro se soma a essa história e se inscreve nos seus diferentes cenários de conflito, dando lugar público e vocalizando iniciativas conservadoras até então isoladas. Este artigo examina quatro frentes de sua política para a educação básica e explora a hipótese de que as ideias e projetos de reforma das décadas anteriores estimularam e sustentaram suas proposições reacionárias, pela disseminação de um ideário contrário à educação pública e como reação a um período de renovação dos saberes escolares por meio da incorporação de novas pautas culturais, ambientais e de identidade.
