Summary. Pelvic reflexes, previously undescribed, are documented and categorized in an unselected group of 137 women for various clinical situations. It is likely that these reflexes signify the presence of intact end-organ receptors in the cervix and vagina. The absence of the reflex responses, however, can occur in the presence of a subjective report of satisfactory sexual gratification. This reflects the multi-faceted nature of this phenomenon. The nerve pathways necessary in the female sexual response are reviewed.
