Etimologija riječi kletva i psovka

Abstract

Polazeći od nesigurne etimologije riječi kletva i psovka, autor otkriva da je većina naziva iz naslova Govorni čini verbalne agresije (kojemu su proklinjanje i psovanje sadržajnom osnovicom) zajednička i lingvistici i magiji. Dapače, osnovna je terminologija magije podudarna s lingvističkom, jer su obje utemeljene na riječi: magija na moći riječi, a lingvistika na njezinoj biti. Paralelizam između magije i lingvistike vrijedi na području pisane riječi koliko i na području govorne. Stoga i ne čudi da neke glotogonijske teorije polaze od magije kao ishodišta jezika i pisma (slično je već dokazano i za poeziju). Nije čudno ni to da je i danas živa prastara ideja o analogiji između riječi i stvari, bitno simpatijska, dakle magijska.
