Open science is becoming a major factor in the systemic transformation taking place at universities. The new tasks facing academia are forcing changes in the units that support the implementation of scientific research. Libraries are units that often take on a pivotal role in the process of opening up access to science, and are therefore also subject to the aforementioned transformation. The purpose of this article is to present the results of a study on the placement of open science issues in the structures of libraries of Polish public universities supervised by the minister responsible for higher education at the beginning of the third decade of the 21st century. The subject of the research was the information made available on the websites of the individual libraries and universities responsible for their management. Statutes relating to the functioning of academic libraries, their organisational structures and the content of sub-pages containing information on topics that are part of a wider phenomenon called open science were analysed. The research has shown that Polish academic libraries are undergoing a transformation that is closely linked to the open science access-oriented changes taking place in their home units.
