Directo n2Measurement in Yttria Stabilized Cubic Zirconia

Abstract

We present here the results of direct measurement of the nonlinear refractive index, n2, of yttria doped cubic zirconia at 1.06 μm using external self-focusing. The value of n2 was found to be independent of the yttria concentration. The measured value (6 × 10-13 esu) compares well with that calculated from the breakdown measurements [1].
