Abstract

Die Nutzung von Biogas in Brennstoffzellen kombiniert vorteilhaft eine kostengünstige regenerative Energiequelle mit einer Technologie, die hohe Wirkungsgrade und Umweltverträglichkeit verspricht. Erstmalig wird die Eignung von Polymer-Elektrolyt-Membran- Brennstoffzellensystemen (PEMFC) zur Verstromung von Biogas experimentell nachgewiesen. Messungen an einer 650 Wel-Laboranlage zeigen im Betrieb mit einer Leistungsdichte von 0,14 W/cm2 einen Zellwirkungsgrad von 58 %. Mit einem Wirkungsgrad von etwa 38 % erweist sich der verwendete Dampfreformer als kritische Komponente. Eine Modellkalkulation auf Basis eines optimierten PEM-Brennstoffzellensystems lässt elektrische Systemwirkungsgrade von über 40% erwarten.
