
The Independent churches category encompasses a great diversity of Christian communities. Many in Latin America have their origin in Evangelical Protestantism. As of 2020, 9.5% of Christians in Latin American and the Caribbean are considered Independent. There are many reasons churches decide to remain independent, among them are the freedom of doctrine and the lack of supervision.
