There is now a formidable body of literature on the history of Antichrist in the Middle Ages, bur relatively little is known about astrology as a vector for the transmission of eschatological ideas in this period. This is a significant omission, even if we allow for the need to keep the field of eschatological inquiry within reasonable bounds since, as McGinn puts it, all medieval thinkers were eschatological in one sense or another.
