Il cronotopo della paura

Abstract

Per comprendere al meglio le caratteristiche della paura è necessario riflettere sulle dinamiche temporali dell’uomo e sulla necessità per l’uomo di elaborare un’identità narrativa. La paura infatti si rivela come un disturbo di tale elaborazione e quindi dell’organizzazione cronotopica della vita umana. La narrazione, in virtù del suo ruolo modellizzante, può anche riprodurre le dinamiche temporalmente problematiche della paura e imporne la fruizione al lettore. In particolare, la soluzione della suspense assolve a questo scopo, attraverso un conflitto tra dinamica emotiva e dinamica cognitiva che può far emergere le varie forme della paura, dall’ansia fino al terrore. Grazie a un’analisi comparata di due celebri passaggi di Hitchcock – tratti da Notorious e Gli uccelli – e di due racconti letterari – Il cuore rivelatore di E.A. Poe e Lettere dalla provincia di T. Landolfi – è possibile chiarire nella maniera migliore le dinamiche specifiche che entrano in gioco.
