Dependencia del móvil y impulsividad: Diferencias entre sexos y rango etario

Abstract

El uso de los móviles está, hoy en día, muy extendido. Las funcionalidades son muy diversas, puede ser una herramienta muy útil para la interacción y para actividades de ocio y/o sociales. Sin embargo, puede utilizarse en exceso. Por ello, es importante explorar el papel de los factores predisponentes, como la impulsividad. Con este estudio, pretendemos evaluar la relación entre la impulsividad y la dependencia del teléfono móvil, explorando en particular entre sexos y grupos de edad. Para ello, se recogieron datos de 847 participantes, con edades comprendidas entre los 12 y los 25 años, en su mayoría mujeres (n = 517, 61,0%), con un cuestionario sociodemográfico, el Test de Dependencia del Móvil (TDM) y la versión corta de las Escalas Breves de Conducta Impulsiva (UPPS). Los resultados permiten observar una relación estadísticamente significativa entre impulsividad y dependencia del móvil, diferencias de género y edad en la dependencia e impulsividad, así como un efecto diferente de la impulsividad como predictor de la dependencia del móvil en función de estas variables. Los datos tienen importantes implicaciones en términos de investigación e intervención.
