This paper endeavours to provide a bird’ s eye view of the new analytic framework for evolutionary economics recently constructed by Dopfer et al. (2004), Dopfer and Potts (2004), Dopfer (2001, 2005), and most fully in Dopfer and Potts (2008). This is based on a focus on economic evolution as the study of coordination and change in the ‘generic’ knowledge-base or rule populations of an economic order, and organized within a framework of micro, meso and macro analysis.
