Abstract

Poncirus trifoliata (L.) Raf., es uno de los portainjertos más importantes para la producción citrícola de la Argentina, y se propaga por semillas cuya latencia física dificulta su germinación. La prueba bioquímica de tetrazolio (TZ) permite una evaluación rápida de la calidad fisiológica de las semillas. A pesar de que la prueba se ha aplicado a Poncirus, aún no se han desarrollado protocolos específicos para esta especie. En el presente trabajo, se llevó a cabo un ensayo preliminar para pro-bar la concentración de TZ y el tiempo de incubación recomendado por las asociaciones de analistas de semillas (1% durante 18 y 24 horas), cuyos resultados se utilizaron para establecer tratamientos adecuados para la especie. Las concentraciones de sal de TZ evaluadas fueron de 0,2 y 0,5%, con una exposición de 3 y 5 horas a TZ, en un diseño factorial 2x2x2. Las semillas se clasificaron como viables o no viables de acuerdo con las diferentes tinciones obtenidas. Se determinó como la metodología más adecuada para realizar la prueba de TZ la utilización de una concentración del 0,2% de la sal TZ, 5 h de incubación y semillas sin escarificar de modo de optimizar los recursos implicados.
