An inverter induction motor drive simulation program for use in power electronic design has been written. The various components which must be represented in an inverter induction motor simulation program are described. The induction motor equations are considered and a simplifying transformation is used in the simulation program. The second order effects of saturation, leakage inductance variation and resistance variation under different operating conditions have been analyzed. The effect of leakage inductance and resistance variation have been implemented in the simulation program. The various voltage sources that are used with induction motor drives are considered and implemented into the computer program. The program is demonstrated to be extremely useful as an aid in the design of inverter induction motor drive systems.
