The basis for this project is to show the steps necessary for an in depth design of the three most common types of slabs being used in modern construction today. These are; slab on ground, one-way slab with band beam and two-way flat slab with drop panels. This project report takes on the combination of slab design models to combine them and create a concise and easy to follow manual that includes flowcharts and explanation of method for the design of suspended and ground slabs. The report also shows comparisons between different methods used in design and analysis.Information, data and design methods were taken from a range of sources and compared. From this, a complete design manual was compiled for the following types of slab.- Slab on ground- Suspended one-way slab- Suspended flat slabTo evaluate the best method for simplified analysis, a range of medium was researched including overseas codes to find the most concise method for design of concrete slabs. An excel computer spreadsheet was generated which follows the design and automatically calculates the answers after entering the parameters. The tables provided also give quick access to some data out of the codes.
