Por último se ofrece un nuevo instrumento de medida de la autoestima de acuerdo con el nuevo concepto de dicho constructo.ABSTRACT: This paper is intented to broaden the traditional notion of self-esteem by suggesting the «value of the person» as its essential characteristic. After revising the literature on this construct, it is concluded that the instruments currently used to asses self-esteem are inadecuated in that they only take into account the qualities-competences and shortcomings of the individual, but not the «value of the person». Finally, a new instrument to asses self-esteem more in accordance with this new conception is presented.
