Abstract

En los últimos años, el medio televisivo, movido por el deseo de obtener una mayor rentabilidad económica, ha potenciado el empleo de un discurso caracterizado por su mayor coloquialidad y por la presencia de un mayor número de elementos verbales descorteses. Las leyes del mercado dictan que los mensajes emitidos se moldeen de forma que puedan ser comprendidos por una amplia capa de la sociedad y que, además, capten la atención del telespectador por medio de la transgresión de lo considerado socialmente adecuado. Nuestro objetivo, a lo largo de estas páginas, consiste en indagar en el segundo de estos aspectos, es decir, en las causas y posibles consecuencias que posee este aumento de la descortesía y violencia verbal en televisión, medio de comunicación de masas convertido en modelo idiomático para millones de hablantes. Para ello, nos centramos en el análisis de un género determinado, las tertulias, y, más concretamente, en el estudio de la evolución que ha sufrido una de las figuras que participan en él: el rol del moderador.
