El Debilitamiento de la democracia en Venezuela: el caso Afiuni

Abstract

En este trabajo analizamos dos eventos discursivos donde el presidente Chávez informa que ha mandado a encarcelar a una juez, y pide para ella la condena máxima, por haber incumplido sus deseos de mantener en prisión a un banquero. Con esta incursión en las atribuciones de la judicatura, el presidente debilita el principio de separación de poderes propio del sistema democrático (Brewer Carías 2012). Partiendo de la noción de contexto de van Dijk (2008), se emplea para el análisis la lingüística forense de Shuy (2013) de base etnográfica. Se describe la situación comunicativa global, descendiendo del evento comunicativo hasta llegar a las unidades menores del lenguaje. El evento comunicativo descrito corresponde a un modelo de gobierno autoritario. Se observaron dos participantes: el poder ejecutivo, representado por el presidente y sus acompañantes y el auditorio, representado por los presentes en la sala y el país que recibe la transmisión por televisión y radio. El primero tiene un poder absoluto, que se muestra en las características discursivas que estudiamos en este trabajo. El segundo es dominado por el primero, tanto así que la Fiscal General de la república no está en el podio, sino se encuentra en la sala y forma parte del auditorio. Se observa, en todos los niveles del lenguaje, la manera cómo el discurso se corresponde con una forma autoritaria de gobierno.
