Abstract

ciones disjuntas conformadas por bosques poco densos y monoespecificos en su estrato arboreo. Algunas de ellas como la del Parque Nacional “Cofre de Perote” y el “Pico de Orizaba” han sufrido en los ultimos anos una sensible disminucion en la produccion y calidad de la semilla por lo que se encuentra seriamente perturbadas (Iglesias et al., 1999; Solis, 2002). De acuerdo con Kuang et al. (1998) y Remington y O Malley (2000) la reduccion en la produccion de semillas llenas constituye, entre todas, el efecto mas severo de depresion consanguinea que como apuntara Williams y Savolainen (1996) resulta un fenomeno comun en muchas especies forestales y en particular en coniferas. Algunos estudios previos realizados han permitido conocer la variacion en las caracteristicas morfologicas, de calidad de la madera y ecologicas de algunas poblaciones de esta especie (Perez, 1984; Bonilla, 1993; Solis, 1994, Solis, 2002) sin embargo no se cuenta con suficientes estudios que aborden de manera integral el analisis de viabilidad en relacion con los niveles de variacion morfometrica de las semillas particularmente MORFOMETRIA, VIABILIDAD Y VARIABILIDAD DE LAS SEMILLAS DE LA POBLACION DE PINUS HARTWEGII DEL COFRE DE PEROTE, VERACRUZ, MEXICO
