Abstract

Le nuove serie del PIL italiano dal 1861 al 1913 sono a prezzi 1911. Voci autorevoli hanno affermato che queste sovrastimano la quota dei servizi all'Unita, e che sottostimano pertanto la crescita relativa di quel settore nei decenni successivi. Dalle informazioni statistiche di cui disponiamo la quota dei servizi all'Unita non risulterebbe particolarmente piu bassa a prezzi correnti che non a prezzi 1911, e la sua crescita successiva sembrerebbe alquanto contenuta. L'aumento della quota dei servizi con l'aumento del reddito e un fenomeno recente, che non si puo retropolare perche e cambiata nel tempo la natura stessa dei servizi. Oggi questi sono ampiamente finali, e sostituti superiori dei beni materiali; allora erano prevalentemente intermedi, e complementi dei beni materiali di cui curavano in sostanza la distribuzione.
