Albert examined the Biblical and natural deluges in connection with other issues (e.g., Great Year; great conjunctions; development of civilization; cyclic recurrence of ideas and laws; etc.). The deluges provided him with both a framework for a philosophical explanation of the natural catastrophes and a privileged vantage point for studying the connections between science, religion, myth, and history. This paper aims discusses these subjects in a few Albert’s works (Meteora, De causis proprietatum elementorum, De caelo).
