Abstract

The essay presents and discusses the results of a sociological survey conducted on a sample of 3,302 students enrolled in Roman upper secondary schools to investigate in depth, from a mixed perspective, the risk factors - of a social, relational and identity nature - that arise connect the onset of symptoms of addiction to technologies and digital media among adolescents, with one specific attention to the conditions that make the use of social networks compulsive and dysfunctional. Hyper-connected adolescents are the protagonists of this publication, which aims to respond to the needs for scientific knowledge of a rapidly evolving phenomenon. From the pages of the essay gradually emerges a picture full of socio-psychological and pragmatic implications, which invites the reader to critically reflect on the daily experience that the Post-Millennial generation experiences in using digital channels. The results, in addition to being of specific interest to scholars in the sector, involve educational agents, and their difficult daily task of promoting an informed use of these tools.
