The evolution of the modern museum runs parallel to the history of the system of the fine arts. The dissolution of the system in XX century coincides with a serious reflection on the status of the museum. The hypothesis presented in this paper is that the contemporary organisations of the museum can capture the features of a common sense on the arts, a default position that can function as a systematic background for contemporary artistic practices.
