Misère et grandeur d?un métier : les crieurs de journaux dans l?Espagne contemporaine

Abstract

Historiquement, les vendeurs de journaux ont joué un rôle significatif dans le développement de la presse, exerçant pourtant un travail pénible, peu rétribué et très mal considéré socialement. Dans un pays comme l’Espagne, au malheur inhérent à ce métier s’est jointe pendant bien longtemps l’aversion d´une partie de l’Église catholique qui considérait le crieur et la presse à grand tirage comme l’ennemi à battre. Les autorités gouvernementales, de leur côté, craignaient les conséquences d’un acte apparemment aussi insignifiant que celui de crier un journal, conscientes que cette activité pouvait mener tout droit à l’expression de la dissidence ou à l’altération de l’ordre public.
