Donne, famiglia e genere

Abstract

Un confronto tra la storiografia italiana e la storiografia spagnola sui temi della storia della famiglia e della storia di genere, che finora hanno avuto pochi punti di contatto perché entrambe hanno privilegiato altri referenti, in particolare le storiografie inglese e francese. In particolare si analizzano gli studi italiani sui monasteri femminili, per l’influenza avuta sulle ricerche straniere; gli studi sulla carità e l’assistenza, per l’attenzione alla diffusione di luoghi di ricovero per donne e bambine; infine gli studi sulle relazioni familiari, per aver messo in luce le disunioni e le tensioni che incrinavano la stabilità e coesione delle famiglie di antico regime. Viene inoltre messa in discussione l’esistenza di un codice dell’onore femminile specifico dell’area mediterranea: fino all’Ottocento anche i paesi del Nord Europa condivisero difatti un’analoga preoccupazione per la tutela dell’onore delle donne.
